Your thoughts? Eating for the enjoyment of food
I have, in the past, realized and written (Four Faces of Eating) about the many faces of eating. Specifically:
Eating for health (fuel, hunger, health)
My conclusion back then was to try not to eat for any reason other than eating for health.
I am in the process of reconsidering that goal. It's not as if we can give up food in the same manner as drugs, cigarettes, or alcohol. We still have to eat in some manner, which makes us desire all four versions of eating.
I am thinking a better goal might be to apply mindfulness to eating in all situations. By doing so, this will bring full awareness to what and why we eat. With this, would we naturally stop eating when we are no longer paying full attention to it?
What do you think? How do you approach all this?
