Food for thought: Making eating decisions
I used to make eating decisions based completely on calories - especially when I was trying to lose weight. It seemed so important to me when on a calorie restricted diet to squeeze as much food into that calorie allotment as I could. Since going plant based, calories play only a small part of my decision-making process and here's why…
I eat fruit and vegetables mainly with a minimal amount of vegan processed food, if any. Eating this way, I can't imagine that I could eat enough to exceed a reasonable amount of calories. So, to me, it's not all that important to keep track of them
Keeping fat to a minimum is much more important. So eating decisions should consider the amount of fat.
Keeping sodium low is also a good decusion- making idea.
And sugar is also a good thing to consider when making eating decisions… but…
…by eating fruits and vegetables in as close to their natural state as possible will make decisions very simple. It's all good tasting and good for you.
