What do you want your physical and emotional life to look like?
I started thinking about this question a couple weeks ago.
Maybe it's unrealistic for me to aspire to be a mountain biker, but I certainly can be more active than I am now. The more I thought about it, the bigger this topic grew, and I started to think that answering it might provide more motivation to make positive changes. So, I decided to flesh this out in hopes it would help all of us move toward our common and uncommon goals.
Below are questions/topics I'm in the process of contemplating in order to answer the main question.
Feel free to join me in this process.
Physical Life : How can your physical life be better?
In general, what would you like to do that you can't physically do now?
Flexibility: Are you bendy enough to do what you want to do?
Endurance: Do you have staying power to physically stay engaged in an activity to completion?
Coordination: Do you have the balance and equilibrium to do what you want?
Health: Do you need to be healthier to do what you want to do?
Do you have chronic diseases that need to be reversed in order to do what you want to do? What are they? And, what can you do about them to make your physical and emotional life better?
What medications must you take to continue feeling and acting healthy? What steps must you take before you are ready to reduce them?
Emotions: Are you emotionally strong enough to make positive changes in your life?
Outlook. Do you face life with healthy optimism? If not, do you know why not?
Depression. Do you often feel depressed or lethargic?
Frustration. Do you often set goals but are unable to meet them ? Then, do you try again or give up?
Expectations. Do you know what will make you feel better, but you are unable to talk yourself into taking the needed action?
Mood. Do you have frequent mood swings that make it difficult for you to concentrate on meeting your goals?
What does this have to do with nutrition, weight management or health? Everything. I am hoping that by taking some time to analyze our physical capabilities, our physical health, and our emotional health we will be able to break down the barriers we have erected that deter us from meeting our goals.
I hope you will find the process helpful!
