Oh Yum: Umami Breakfast Toast
Breakfast toasts are so "in" right now it's kind of crazy. People are putting everything on toast now, and why not? It's the perfect edible surface on which to experiment. For today's Oh Yum, we've made a super duper green toast. If you love gettin' your green on, this baby's for you!
In our opinion, every toast recipe needs some basic elements to make it properly mouth-watering:
- Something creamy
- Something crunchy
- Something zingy
Combine those three elements and you're on your way to creating a library of your own toasty adventures.
- 1/2 cup bean spread (olive oil, navy beans, and sea salt to taste pulverized into a yummy, buttery spread)
- 1 package crunchy seaweed snack, sliced up (Such as GimMe brand)
- 2-3 shiitake mushrooms, sliced
- 1 teaspoons sesame seeds
- 2 slices whole grain bread toasted
On this toast we've used a creamy homemade bean spread (take 1 can of navy beans, drain and add in 1/4 cup olive oil, and sea salt to taste. Put into a food processor or high speed blender and process until smooth and creamy). This spread is absolutely delicious! You can add fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary, or anything you enjoy to give it a bright herby pop. On top of that we've layered our favorite crunchy seaweed snack from GimMe (Organic Roasted Seaweed Snacks Sea Salt ), followed by thinly sliced shiitake mushrooms. Top it all off with your favorite sesame seeds. We used black sesame seeds, but any variety will do. Now crunch away and enjoy! :)
