Oh Yum: Cocoa Berry Toast

Breakfast toasts are so "in" right now it's kind of crazy. People are putting everything on toast now, and why not? It's the perfect edible surface on which to experiment. For today's Oh Yum, we've made a tasty combination of chocolate and berries.

In our opinion, every toast recipe needs some basic elements to make it properly mouth-watering:

  1. Something creamy
  2. Something crunchy
  3. Something zingy

Combine those three elements and you're on your way to creating a library of your own toasty adventures.

Our Recipe:

  1. 1/2 cup chocolate coconut peanut butter (we used Wild Friends brand)
  2. 2 Tablespoons black raspberry jam
  3. 1/2 pint blueberries
  4. 1 handful of seedless grapes (sliced)
  5. 1/2 pint black berries (sliced)
  6. 2 teaspoons chia seeds
  7. 2 slices whole grain bread, toasted

Our super delish base layer is none other than the yummy goodness that is Wild Friends chocolate coconut peanut butter. Sure, many of us have had that ooey gooey hazelnut spread (Nutella) but if you've read the label you know it's not vegan. And yes, you can make your own, we'll post a recipe for that another time, but if you still crave a nutty cocoa butter there are plenty of alternatives out there now. We like Wild Friends brand because it's non GMO and only has 5 simple ingredients (peanuts, coconut, organic agave, unsweetened dark chocolate, and sea salt). 

Once you've slathered on your delicious base layer, spread on a dollop of black raspberry jam for an extra berry bite. Then follow that with your berries and grapes. Finish it all off with a sprinkling of chia seeds. These little babies are great, they help fill you up and give you a boost of omega 3s. Who doesn't love the sound of that? :) Enjoy!
