What does being a Vegan mean to you?

Being vegan is more than just about food. By becoming a vegan you are showing your interest and appreciation of all other beings (such as cows, pigs, chickens, fish, lambs, etc.) as well as your love of the earth.

I am new to being vegan. I am learning as quickly as I can, so I can pass along good information to you.  I've known in the back of my mind for a long time that steak comes from cows and wings from chickens, but I have chosen not to think about it too deeply.  Not thinking about it until I did think about it -- until I actually saw how the animals are treated.  But, there are many more issues in addition to the treatment of animals.

Did you know ...

...that according to Scientific America, four-fifths of deforestation of the Amazon rain forest can be attributed to cattle ranching. 

...that red meat is responsible for 10 to 40 times as many greenhouse gas emissions as veggies and grains.

...that there is significant water pollution around factory farms...

I'm not going to beat you up with this information. That's not my style. People need to come to these decisions on their own. But, consuming meat and animal products is a topic worth thinking about.  It puts becoming vegan in a much larger context than a diet choice.  It's a lifestyles choice for sure.

  1. Vegan as suggested by you, I totally agree this brings Health and Nutrition to life. I myself being a non vegetarian but I prefer being a vegan.
